Cebu Normal University (CNU) Integrated Laboratory School (ILS) students exemplified unity in diversity as they celebrated the United Nations (UN) month. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Teams’ Day and Convocation also took place on the same day making it a triple event.
Students and faculty members paraded on the ILS Centennial Stage dressed in a series of national costumes and others with different national flags as they kicked off the celebration last Wednesday, October 30, 2019 with the theme Unity in Diversity: Building Bridges through ESD.
Mr. Renan Elcullada, ILS Supervisor, said that the three-in-one event is also an extension activity of the students where they can showcase their different prowess in dancing, singing, sports, and the like outside their classrooms.
He also challenged the students in their own way to keep ILS united as a family and to do acts which are in line with the 17 sustainable development goals.
This month’s ESD Team’s day is guided by the United Nations celebration as seen in the booths prepared by the different teams.
These teams are based on the different subject areas namely – Excellent Communicators of English Language/ExCEL (English); Wellness Guild (MAPEH), Engaged Environmentalist (Science), Association of Responsible Media YoUsers /ARMY (Araling Panlipunan and Values Education), Innovative Entrepreneurs (Innopreneurs) (TLE), Pinoy Ako (Magalang na Tagasulong) (Filipino), and Wise Investors (Mathematics).
